ORDINARY TIME
One of the realities of everyday life is that it is easy to get caught up in things. Politics, social media, schedules, work, money, worry, the list could go on. But what would life look like if you were caught up in Christ?
That is exactly what we are called to do during this part of the liturgical season we are in, which is referred to as “Ordinary Time”. When we think of the word ordinary, we think plain, simple, same old same old, but that is far from what it should mean for us as Catholics. Our Bishops here in the US put it this way “The Sundays and weeks of Ordinary Time, on the other hand, take us through the life of Christ. This is the time of conversion. This is living the life of Christ. Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to penetrate ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ.”
Like all liturgical seasons, Ordinary Time is meant to be lived! We aren’t passive receptors of the liturgy – or at least we shouldn’t be. We are called to be active participants! Participating in Ordinary Time means participating in the everyday life of Jesus.

This Sunday’s 11:30 Mass includes the PARISH CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES for this year. It’s exciting to think how they have grown from small children in our families, to the young adults we see before us now. They’ve already been undergoing training for this commit- ment and will be on a retreat the rest of Sunday. Those who study human growth say that the age of 12-13-14 is the first time we can really look ahead to a future in our lives and dream more realistically about where we will go and what we will do. That’s why it’s a great [...]

Formed.org has hundreds of movies, books, audio talks and more. There are selections for adults and children and teens. The new “Community Page” is tailored to St. Monica. Formed.org is designed to help our parish form adults, teens and children in the Catholic faith, and it can be used both here at the parish, in our own homes and on the go. You can access FORMED anytime on the web, using your computer, smartphone, or tablet and there’s also an app. It is extremely important that we as Catholics not only know our Catholic faith, but also bear witness to Christ in our daily lives, particularly in this time of the New Evangelization. We strongly encourage every parishioner to take advantage of this excellent resource and make it a priority to learn more about our faith so that we can not only live it out more deeply, but also share it with others.
Formed is a free gift for our parish. Sign up for FREE at https://stmonicastl.formed.org

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
