A Message from the Pastor…………………….
I’m sure you noticed scaffolding and other things around the church. This is exciting, as Glenn Fishering and his company install a new speaker system throughout. You can just look up and see the barrel-shaped speakers pointing down at us, rather than across the rafters and ceiling. This will direct the sound right down to us, and make for clearer, more understandable spoken word and music. There will be a change too in the kind of microphone I use, for maxi- mum clarity of understanding. They hope to finish the installation after our Sunday Masses, and for the system to be in use next weekend.
Since we’ve now had the post-Pentecost feasts of Trinity and Corpus
Christi, we enter the time of Ordinary Sunday Gospels. Already the days are growing shorter, from this week’s spring equinox on. To celebrate this, the Church celebrated the feast of John the Baptist. It was he who said when Jesus appeared, “He must increase, I must decrease.” So, as the days slightly decrease by a few minutes, we reflect on the Baptist who said that he must decrease. And from now to November, we follow Jesus on Sundays with a small pointed les- son or incident from the Gospel of Luke. This is our “ordinary” way to grow in discipleship.
