A Message from the Pastor…………………….

I’m pleased to introduce you to Fr. George Sssemombwe—“Father George”. Father is from Uganda and came to the U.S. in 2005 to pursue a Masters in Social Work at Washington University, followed by an M.B.A. at UMSL. He received these and went to work founding an orphanage deep in Uganda, where the children would otherwise have no healthy life and many would not be alive. His work is most impressive, to see a 4-story orphanage, and an addition planned to accom- modate more. He has lived in the rectories I’ve been at, and joined Fr. Tim and I this week. You’ll see him at some weekday Masses as he visits other parishes to support his cause.

We did a most reverent observance of the special days of those who have gone before us: All Saints, and then a tender Mass of remembrance of our beloved decease on All Souls. Now we go into several more weeks of ”Ordinary” Gospels and Masses, till the liturgical year ends with Christ the King.

This Saturday is a special opportunity, to pray the current Liturgy of the Eucharist in Latin. As part of our Anniversary, we are having priests from our parish, raised here or who have served here, to come for Mass. Fr. Julio Lagos, a Benedictine priest serving in the Netherlands, will celebrate our current Mass in Latin Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. He will also concelebrate the 11:30 Mass with me on Sunday.

Saturday night this weekend is our first Auction in several years, and my first one here. I look forward to a joyful and productive night.
