​We provide for children’s individual needs as well as small group and large group activities.

Activities will be developmentally appropriate and varied. Children will bring a tote bag each day. Parents will provide a change of clothes as necessary.

Our Full Day Preschool is 7:50 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Early Arrival: Children may arrive as early as 7:15 a.m.

After School Care: Onsite after school care is available for St. Monica preschoolers. Hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Cost is $10.00 per hour.

Our Preschool Programs

Preschool Academics

  • Circle Time – The children meet in a group to discuss a new topic or concept and to plan the day’s activities. Calendar, weather, and jobs are noted. Books and pictures are often used.
  • Activity Time – This time will include such activities as cooking, painting, coloring, playing with clay, cutting with scissors, finger painting, etc.
  • Free Play Time – Activity during the free play period is based on the theory that young children profit and learn from self-chosen and self-initiated play. The children are allowed to play with a minimum of intrusion by teachers who may suggest, observe, or help as needed. Materials available during free play are blocks, puzzles, games, dominoes, etc.
  • Clean-Up Time – Children help put toys back in place as helpers to teachers.
  • Books, music, finger plays – In addition to classrooms singing, instruments and musical activities are included throughout the year.
  • Refreshments – The children are served nutritious snacks such as crackers, vegetables, cheese, fruit, etc.
  • Outside Play or Games Inside – Creative movement, gross motor play.
  • Quiet Time
  • Story Time and Group Time – The teacher tells stories with books, music, flannel-board pictures, etc. This time may include “show and tell,” group discussion, or group games. Movies or video tapes pertaining to themes are occasionally shown.
  • Goodbye Time – Children will be escorted to cars by teachers.

Young children learn skills:

  • Personal & social – cares for self in classroom and bathroom, works well with others, respects others
  • Fine motor – uses scissors, holds paper, cuts curves; copies circle, square; draws recognizable objects
  • Gross motor – hops on one foot, throws ball overhand, walks heel to toe
  • Language – participates in discussion, attends to stories, expresses wants and needs
  • Intellectual – prints first name, knows the names of classmates, sorts objects, colors, shapes

Young children learn skills:

  • Personal & social – able to handle transitions easily, cares for personal belongings, exhibits self- control
  • Fine motor – dresses unsupervised, draws with correct grasp, copies triangle, rectangles
  • Gross motor – bounces and catches ball, follows 3D blocks, follows multiple step projects
  • Language – sits and listens 10-15 minutes at circle; exhibits rich and growing vocabulary
  • Intellectual – prints first and last name, can problem solve in classroom situations, distinguishes opposites

A NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee of $125 is required for each child. This fee must accompany the registration form. Upon receipt of this registration fee, a place will be reserved in the August preschool program for the 2023-2024 school year. Space is limited.

All families will automatically be set up in the FACTS tuition management system. Families who choose to make a single payment are eligible for a 3% discount.


Registration Process

Preschool Students will be accepted for enrollment in the following order:

  1. Children of registered parishioners with siblings already attending St. Monica School
  2. Children of registered parishioners
  3. Catholic children of non-parishioners with siblings already attending St. Monica School
  4. Catholic children of non-parishioners
  5. Non-Catholic children with siblings already attending St. Monica School
  6. Non-Catholic children (Education Commission Policy adopted 08/07/01)

Billing and Payments

Families will be automatically enrolled in the FACTS Tuition Management Program upon registration. You will have the following payment options:

  • Tuition paid in full by April 30, 2023 (qualifies for 3% discount).
  • Monthly payments beginning July 2023 and ending April 2024 through FACTS.

Any family who cannot make a tuition payment will need to contact the Parish Office to make appropriate arrangements. If agreed upon arrangements cannot be reached in a timely fashion, your child/children will not be allowed to attend school.
