St. Monica Catholic Church and School has received a $70,000 grant from the Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri. The grant, awarded through the Foundation’s Beyond Sunday Education Fund, will provide for school improvements.

St. Monica’s Beyond Sunday grant will fund the innovative new project, a STREAM Studio and Innovation Lab. This project was developed by Mrs. Tammi Rohman, Principal, Dr. Bridget Feldmann, PTO President and Mr. Joseph Wientge, School Board President, and will include new IT equipment, laptops, a recording studio, renovated learning spaces, and more. St. Monica will also have a dedicated STREAM Studio teacher on staff to assist faculty in incorporating STREAM techniques across all classes. Benefits to students and the school include increasing first-hand experiences in the STREAM disciplines for our 4-year preschool, elementary, and middle school as well as with our PSR program.

Teachers and school leadership are very excited about the impact the grant will have. Mrs. Tammi Rohman, Principal, says “I am extremely thankful to Dr. Feldmann and the grant committee and the Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri for having faith in the St. Monica School to invest in the future of our community.”

The Roman Catholic Foundation awards Beyond Sunday grants to archdiocesan and parish Catholic schools and PSR programs in the Archdiocese of St. Louis through a competitive application and review process. To date, $3.1 million has been granted to benefit Catholic education in our local community.

The St. Monica community inspires students to be servant-leaders through innovative academics, student empowerment, and Catholic faith.

This is an incredibly exciting development, as it will allow St. Monica to develop a technological capability which is unmatched in our area. Once implemented, the STREAM Studio and Innovation Lab will enhance the overall school curriculum and provide so many wonderful opportunities for preschool through 8th grade and PSR students interested in science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and math. The School Board wishes to express its gratitude to Mrs. Rohman for her leadership and support of the initiative and a very special thank you to Dr. Bridget Feldman, PTO President, who identified the grant opportunity, researched the possibilities, and wrote an excellent application. This fantastic news would not have been possible without their dedication and hard work. Thank you to all of you who were a part of the process and for those who prayed for its success.

-Joe Wientge, School Board President
