A Message From Fr. Sebastian:

News reports here on the East Coast reported the surge of COVID infections in Missouri, including the St. Louis area, due primarily to low vaccination rates which have let the new variant forms spread strongly. They also reported the civic officials reinstating the mask order in the city and County. So I used my brother’s connections here to look for the Archbishop’s directives, which typically follow a few days after the civic officials. Till the challenges are resolved, here is the Archdiocesan statement:

  • The Archdiocese of St. Louis strongly encourages parishioners and employees abide by the guid- ance of their local city or county ordinance and strongly encourages the use of vaccines to fight the latest surge of the COVID-19 virus. Vaccinations are an important tool in caring for both our own health and the health of those around
  • At this writing, St. Louis City and St. Louis County are mandating masks for all indoor activities, which include the celebration of public Mass as well as classes/activities in our schools and gymna- siums. Those mandates are being challenged by the Missouri Attorney General and members of the St. Louis County Council. Once there is a resolution to those challenges, the Archdiocese of St. Louis will work with local government on implementing a strategy and precautionary measures that provide the best defense against the COVID-19 virus. Those details will be shared as soon as we have clear

Please consider carefully. More vaccinated are getting sick, and passing it on. I will continue wearing a mask except when at a safe distance.

See you from Wednesday on.
